Pay Yourself First

First Tip of the Week!!

Pay yourself first. When you get your paycheck, it makes sense to give yourself the first cut right? There are several ways to pay yourself before you pay your student loans, credit card bills and other various bills.

First you can stuff ten percent of you ends right under your mattress or put . No interest will be paid. It really won't be safe from your spouse, but it is a start.

A better option is directly depositing ten percent of your check into your favorite savings account. This account will serve as your disasterous emergency fund. Meaning it will never get touched unless you encounter a long bad streak. After a couple of years, you can use the funds to jumpstart your down payment plan for your house, tuition, or a new maybach.

Another way is to have the money deposited into your company supported 401k. This works well, especially if your employer matches your funds. This is literally free money--unless you count this as payback for the sweat and tears you log at work.

My last suggestion is directly contributing to a mutual fund index. This is for the sophisticated. It will make you alot of extra bucks in the long run. So if you're feeling good, go with this option.

Just do whatever you can to put some money away for a rainy day. Saving a small percent of your income will set you apart from other people stuggling with how to buy their new home, car or pay those bills. You will truly have a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
